Rob Innes is an experienced producer, director and writer specialising in documentary, factual, news and comedy. He develops original ideas through Mashup Pictures and works with other leading production companies. During 2023-2024 Rob was selected for the Screen Australia Enterprise program which included a residency at Arrow Media in the UK under the guidance of Creative Director Tom Brisley. And in 2023 he took part in the VicScreen Originate Factual Program led by Fatima Salaria.

With Mashup Pictures, he is currently producing a science feature documentary with an Academy-Award nominated studio in the USA.

Previously Rob was the series director of the high-rating ABC 3-part series Magda’s Big National Health Check for Southern Pictures. He produced and directed original 4-part ABC TV documentary series Housemates, produced the award-winning series Phenomena for ABC science which was named one of the best Australian programs of 2021 by The Guardian and won the Special Jury Prize at the Scinema Science Film Festival 2021; produced and directed documentary series Youth on Strike! for Junkee Media which won the MDFF Best Documentary Webseries Award 2020 and was nominated for both a SPA and ADG Award; and produced comedy series What Could Go Wrong? for ABC iview. He has also produced animated film Bright Lights for The Guardian, and recently produced Unerased, a vertical Instagram series with emerging director AP Pobjoy.

 

Rob has been a senior producer on the ABC TV series The Weekly with Charlie Pickering, produced and developed an original TV concept with VICE, a producer on ABC's Tomorrow Tonight, a long-form producer on Network Ten’s The Project, a field producer on Nine's The Block, produced over 50 episodes of a travel and lifestyle series for 7Mate, and was a story producer with Princess Pictures on the innovative documentary series My Year 12 Life for ABC ME.
